 Regional Trade Compliance Manager
Compensation: $95K-$125K 
This role ensures that international trade activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. The Regional Trade Compliance Manager works closely with various departments to develop, implement, and maintain effective trade compliance programs and to oversee the regional and national export control and customs processes.
 
Key responsibilities
  • Trade Compliance: Stay updated on evolving trade regulations, including customs laws, sanctions, embargos, and export control across jurisdictions.  Interpret and communicate regulatory requirements to regional stakeholders.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement trade compliance policies and procedures to ensure legal adherence. Implement processes for screening, classification, and licensing of goods and technology.
  • Alignment: Ensure close collaboration and alignment with the Head of Global Trade Compliance and the operational trade compliance teams locally.
  • Documentation: Create, implement, monitor and revise regional / local trade compliance documentation
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct frequent assessments to identify and mitigate trade compliance risk. Address issues proactively and develop strategies to avoid penalties and minimize liabilities.
  • Training & Awareness: Provide training to employees involved in international trade. Foster a culture of compliance through ongoing education and awareness initiatives.
  • SAP GTS: Manage all trade compliance processes run in SAP GTS, incl. the regional tariff classification and the export classification process.
  • Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, tax, supply chain, and logistics, to integrate compliance into business operations. Act as subject matter expert and interface between the global, regional, and national teams.
  • External Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, trade associations, customs brokers and industry peers to stay informed on regulatory changes and best practices. Represent the company in discussions with regulatory authorities.
  • Audits & Investigations: Coordinate internal audits and investigations to ensure compliance. Address findings and implement corrective actions. Manage external customs import/export audits and coordinate internal support activities.
You bring these skills, experience & education
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Law, International Relations, Supply Chain or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification in trade compliance preferred.
  • 5–7-year experience in trade compliance roles within multinational corporations, with a focus on import/export regulations, sanctions, and export controls.
  • Strong knowledge of regional and national trade laws and regulations, including customs and export control laws.
  • Extensive SAP and SAP GTS experience, especially in the areas of legal control and SPL screening.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement trade compliance programs that manage risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels and represent the company to government agencies and industry groups.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address emerging trade compliance issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Spanish conversation skills are nice to have.
