Position: Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager
Department: Plant Operations
Location: Peachtree City, GA
Reports to: Direct - Plant Manager / Matrix – Global EHS Manager –Bib/Sp
Job Summary:
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety, health, and environmental programs within the manufacturing facility. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a culture of safety, sustainability, and well-being for employees, contractors, and visitors. The EHS Manager leads initiatives to minimize hazards, prevent accidents, and reduce the plant's environmental footprint while working cross-functionally with all departments to promote continuous improvement in EHS performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight
- Ensure the facility is in compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, local laws).
- Stay current with updates in EHS regulations and industry standards, and implement necessary changes within the facility.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies for inspections, permits, and audits, and act as the point of contact for all external compliance inquiries.
2. Safety Management
- Oversee and maintain site ISO45001 safety management system.
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
- Lead the identification and mitigation of workplace hazards through risk assessments, audits, and regular safety inspections.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes, develop corrective actions, and track their implementation.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and engagement through training programs, safety committees, and employee involvement initiatives.
- Manage site SIG SES EHS Pillar continuous improvement planning.
3. Environmental Management
- Oversee and maintain the site ISO14001 environmental management system, including waste reduction, pollution control, and resource conservation efforts.
- Manage hazardous materials and waste in accordance with environmental regulations (e.g., proper storage, labeling, shipping and disposal).
- Monitor air, water, and soil quality within the plant and ensure emissions are within legal and regulatory limits.
- Conducts and oversees site environmental programs (SWPPP, SPCC, Tier II) reporting and other requirements.
- Lead sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the company’s environmental impact (energy efficiency, recycling programs, etc.).
4. Health and Wellness
- Implement programs to promote employee health and well-being, including ergonomics, wellness initiatives, and occupational health monitoring.
- Ensure the availability of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and support management in enforcement of its correct use.
- Manage the facility’s response to emergencies, including medical emergencies, fires, spills, and natural disasters, ensuring that all emergency procedures are up to date and regularly tested.
5. Training and Education
- Develop and deliver EHS-related training programs, including new hire orientations, safety workshops, emergency response drills, SIG specific (Life Saving Rules) and hazard-specific training (e.g., chemical handling).
- Maintain records of training and certifications to ensure that all employees are current and compliant with EHS requirements.
- Collaborate with department managers to integrate EHS objectives into daily operations and ensure that EHS goals are aligned with business goals.
6. EHS Metrics and Reporting
- Manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure EHS performance, track progress, and drive continuous improvement.
- Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies (OSHA logs, environmental permits, etc.).
- Generate internal reports for management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for improvement in EHS performance.
- Collect, prepare and enter plant EHS and sustainability data (energy, waste, water) into SIG reporting system monthly.
7. Leadership and Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, quality, and human resources, to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of operations.
- Act as a role model for EHS excellence, continuously promoting a proactive approach to safety and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in EHS management, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proven track record of successfully managing EHS programs and improving safety culture and compliance.
- Experience managing ISO14001 & ISO45001 management systems.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and risk assessment skills.
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication, training, and team-building skills.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with EHS management software, data analysis, and reporting.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in industrial environments, including exposure to noise, heat, chemicals, and mechanical hazards.
- Ability to walk, stand, and navigate plant facilities for extended periods of time.
