Compensation: $125K -$160K 
Summary of the role: 
This role serves as the primary tax business partner for the region, providing technical expertise and commercial guidance to finance, legal, treasury and business stakeholders.
 
Key responsibilities
  • Tax Compliance & Reporting - Lead all corporate income tax compliance activities across the US, Canada and Mexico, including federal, state/provincial and local tax obligations
  • Tax Accounting & Financial Reporting - Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual tax provision process under IFRS for US, Canadian and Mexican entities including all required corporate reporting, forecasting, budgeting and tax planning.
  • Tax Advisory & Business Partnering - Act as the primary tax advisor to finance, legal, treasury and business stakeholders across the region.
  • Tax Planning -   Identify and drive tax planning opportunities that support business objectives while maintaining compliance.
  • Risk Management - Lead tax audits, examinations and tax authority inquiries, coordinating responses and supporting documentation.  Proactively identify, evaluate & mitigate tax risks.
  • Controls, Processes & Continuous Improvement - Own and maintain tax-related internal controls and compliance with corporate governance frameworks. Strengthen tax processes, documentation, related retention guidelines and workflows to improve efficiency and transparency.
  • Transfer Pricing & Global Collaboration -  Partner with the global transfer pricing team to ensure consistent implementation of transfer pricing policies and documentation requirements, including intercompany agreements.
  • Leadership & Team Development -  Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing tax team.
     
     
You bring these skills, experience & education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related field
  • Professional qualification such as CPA, CA, CTA, JD, LLM (Tax) or equivalent.
  • 10-15+ years of progressive corporate tax experience gained within a multinational corporation, public accounting firm or combination of both.
  • Significant experience in US federal and state corporate income tax.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican and Canadian corporate income tax (Highly preferred)
  • Extensive experience with IFRS tax accounting and income tax provision processes.
  • Proven experience managing tax compliance, reporting, audits and tax advisory matters.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing teams.
  • Experience managing external advisors and cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage senior leadership
