Senior Credit Analyst
Summary of role
Salary: $65k-$80k
The Senior Credit Analyst is a critical member of the Finance organization responsible for evaluating and managing customer credit risk to protect the company’s financial health while supporting revenue growth. This role leads complex credit evaluations, establishes credit limits, monitors risk exposure, and collaborates cross-functionally with Sales, A/R, Treasury, and Credit teams to enforce credit policies, resolve disputes, and ensure compliance with internal controls. The Senior Credit Analyst also supports strategic initiatives to improve cash flow, automate processes, and enhance reporting and analytics.
Key responsibilities
- Perform credit risk assessments for new and existing customers by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, payment history, and market intelligence.
- Recommend and establish credit limits and terms in accordance with corporate risk tolerance and customer profiles.
- Proactively monitor customer credit performance, industry risk trends, and macroeconomic indicators; identify high-risk accounts and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Lead customer credit reviews and escalation processes for accounts on hold, past due, or under special terms.
- Collaborate with A/R, Treasury, Sales, and Customer Service teams to resolve credit-related issues, release orders, and balance customer service with risk exposure.
- Maintain and enforce compliance with credit policies, internal controls and procedures
- Prepare and analyze A/R and credit-related KPIs, aging trends, and concentration reports to support decision-making and cash forecasting.
- Initiate process improvements and automation in A/R and credit workflows and enhance data accuracy in ERP and credit management systems.
- Support internal and external audits with documentation and explanation of credit assessments, policy adherence, and approval workflows.
You bring these skills, experience & education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in credit analysis, financial risk assessment, or trade credit, ideally in a manufacturing or B2B environment.
- Strong proficiency in interpreting financial statements, credit scoring models, and risk mitigation practices.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP ECC/S4H) and credit tools (e.g., Dun & Bradstreet, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and data modeling.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with the ability to influence internal stakeholders and maintain productive relationships with external customers.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with competing priorities.
