Quality Technician

 

Summary of role:

Salary: $50k-$60k

The Quality Technician is responsible for executing quality assurance and control activities to ensure that all products meet food safety standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. Working within the food packaging environment, this role involves monitoring production processes, inspecting raw materials and finished products, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform routine quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and final packaged goods, following internal protocols.
  • Monitor critical control points and perform line audits to ensure packaging processes are under control.
  • Works closely with the operations team to ensure that the required Standard Operating Conditions (SOC) / process parameters linked to the product/equipment are being actively monitored and managed.
  • Support calibration and maintenance of inspection tools and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, non-conformance logs, and corrective action documentation.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions. · Support the non-conforming product management process, ensuring correct identification and control.
  • Ensure all quality and food safety procedures are followed in accordance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Carry out training and qualification of employees in the operations in tests and criteria, through procedures and other available materials, aiming at the correct execution of activities.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless quality control across departments.
  • Promote food safety culture and support continuous training efforts within the team. 

You bring these skills, experience & education

  • Associate's degree or 2-4 years of vocational training preferred.
  • HS Diploma or equivialent required
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)
  • MS Office (Intermediate)
  • Basic knowledge of quality and problem-solving tools
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and food safety standards (BRC, SQF, FDA) desirable
