Production Planning Supervisor
Summary of role
Salary: $75k-$85k
The Production Planning Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of production planning and scheduling to ensure efficient and timely manufacturing operations. This role involves leading a team of planners or schedulers, optimizing resources, and working cross-functionally with procurement, manufacturing, quality, and logistics teams.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective production schedules based on open orders, sales forecasts, inventory levels, and capacity constraints.
- Supervise and lead the production planning team, setting goals, assigning tasks, and evaluating performance.
- Monitor production performance and adjust plans to meet demand changes, resource limitations, or disruptions.
- Collaborate with procurement and inventory control teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
- Analyze production data and generate reports to track key metrics such as on-time delivery, capacity utilization, and production efficiency.
- Coordinate with manufacturing and operations teams to align production plans with labor and equipment capacity.
- Resolve scheduling conflicts and production delays by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout the production planning process.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of planning tools and systems.
- Ability to work in a team environment, to teach and coach others in the awareness of planning techniques, software, and best practices.
You bring these skills, experience & education
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Supervision, lean and ISO experience a plus, plastics industry preferred.
- The ability to excel in a fast paced, high-energy environment with constant interface with people.
- Solid understanding of demand management techniques.
- Good manufacturing practices and team development
- Experience with Continuous Improvement is highly desirable
- APCIS certification will be a plus
