Lamination/ Slitting Operator

 

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

$1,200 Sign-On Bonus 

Skilled/Experienced Level- $22-$28 /hr + Shift Differential Day ($1.50) and Night ($3.00)

*12 hour shift Rotating Schedule - Days 7am-7pm & Nights 7pm-7am

Responsible for operation of the lamination or slitting process, quality of the product and the production yield. 

YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 -4 years of hands-on experience in lamination and slitting or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate laminating equipment that applies Adhesive or Thermal to materials and bonds them together under heat and pressure
  • Understanding different types of materials used in the lamination process (e.g., plastic films, paper, foil, textiles) and how they behave during lamination
  • Operating machines that cut laminated materials into narrower strips or sizes according to customer specifications.
  • Understanding different slitting methods, including rotary slitting, razor slitting, or shear slitting, and selecting the appropriate method for the material being processed.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs or adjustments on machines, such as replacing blades, fixing jams, or realigning machinery
  • Ensure that the lamination and slitting processes are operating at the correct speed and efficiency.
  • Regularly inspecting both laminated and slit materials for defects like wrinkles, gaps, or uneven thickness.
  • Start up and shut down of the assembly line and production equipment
  • Documenting the quality checks and production data, ensuring that quality standards are being maintained throughout the process and entered into the computer system
  • Ensuring that products meet customer specifications, including precise widths, bonding strength, and surface appearance
  • Follow up change over process to run different products
  • Load and unload material into the machine using hoists and mobile equipment such forklifts
  • Assist maintenance in troubleshooting and repairing during the mechanical downtime
  • Assist the management in improving safety, quality, and production
  • Able to work on different assembly lines and production equipment
  • Be able to keep up with the production lines quotes and rates

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to all Lamination Shift Safety Policy Deployment targets to improve.
  • Check machine settings and safety devices prior to their operation, set controls, start machines and load materials.
  • Demonstrate LOTO procedures on Slitting and The Lamination equipment.
  • Understand and complete production paperwork set forth by standard operation procedures.
  • Understand how to interpret Lamination/Slitting production countdowns to effectively complete production orders.
  • Follow set Standard Operating Conditions of all product sku(s) in Lamination’s inventory.
  • Perform quality control of all materials manufactured in the Lamination process
  • Thread film through machine and verifies type and dimensions to specifications.
  • Perform changeovers on the Laminator.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting procedures on the Laminator for air pockets, fold overs, pleats, wrinkles, equipment problems, and process related issues.
  • Regulate machine temperature, pressures, and speeds of operation of the lamination process.
  • Cut-off waste material, trim and laminate rolls in accordance with machine cycle and quality specifications.
  • Observe operation of the Lamination process for surface and quality defects.

 

EDUCATION:

    • High school diploma or G.E.D required.

    • Must be able to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    • Frequently standing, walking and sitting.
    • Frequently required the use of hands to finger, feel, reach or handle machinery.
    • Frequently bend, stoop and reach.
    • Visual Acuity (VA).
