Maintenance Technician

Job Title: Maintenance Technician

FLSA Status: Hourly

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

 

The Maintenance Technician install, troubleshoots, repair, and maintain complex mechanical equipment and distribution systems, involving work of varied nature requiring trade skills with direction from supervision. The Maintenance Group Leader fulfills the responsibilities of this role when vacant.

 

PAY RANGE: $24.25 to $36.75

SHIFT: (12hrs) Night Shift 6:30pm-7:00am 

LOCATION: Merced, CA

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain machines and equipment to ensure production processes are reliable and consistent.
  • Supports installation and rearranges complex equipment.
  • Diagnoses equipment failure as instructed by supervision.
  • Dismantle, repair, and reassemble complex equipment.
  • Performs work in the mechanic skilled area such as fabrication, assembly, welding, burning, cutting, and pipe fitting, as instructed by supervision.
  • Occasionally performs work in other trades as instructed by supervision.
  • Completes all assigned work orders in CMMS at the time of completion with notes.
  • Uses typical mechanics tools and inspection gages.
  • Have Basic Electrical knowledge, know to use a voltage meter.
  • Have Basic Hydraulic usage knowledge.
  • Works from drawings, verbal instructions, or sketches.
  • Uses shop math.
  • Cleans debris and lubricant from parts, work area, and equipment.
  • Operates production equipment to check work as required.

KEY COMPENTENCIES:      

  • Electro/mechanical/pneumatic background in automated machines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – (PowerPoint /Excel/ Word)
  • Stainless Steel Welding and Fabrication a plus
  • Equipment building and prototyping a plus.
  • Ability to work with and understand AC and DC voltage.
  • Troubleshoot all aspects of maintenance in an Industrial Manufacturing Business.
  • Prepare estimates of time, materials, and labor.
  • Work from plans and specifications.
  • Work with limited supervision, follow oral and written instructions.
  • Form and maintain effective working relationships with others.

EDUCATION:       

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience in a related field, preferred.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE AND/OR SKILLS:   

  • 3 years of experience working in a maintenance capacity in an industrial/manufacturing/machine preferred.
