Environmental Health and Safety Manager
Summary of role:
Salary: $115k-$130k
The EHS Manager leads plant-wide efforts to continuously improve environmental, health, and safety (EHS) performance, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager with matrix reporting to the Sr. Regulatory Compliance & Safety Manager – North America. The EHS Manager also provides direct leadership to the EHS Technician.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the site’s EHS programs, policies, and training to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to continuously improve EHS performance, culture, and incident reduction.
- Direct root cause investigations of injuries, illnesses, and environmental incidents; ensure thorough reporting and documentation.
- Maintain environmental permits, licenses, and approvals; serve as primary contact with regulatory agencies.
- Chair and provide leadership to safety committees and cross-functional teams, fostering engagement at all levels of the facility.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and development for the EHS Technician and other team members involved in safety programs.
- Serve as the primary advocate for a strong safety culture, driving accountability and ownership throughout the plant.
- Support other SIG facilities with EHS expertise and best practice sharing.
- Build trust and rapport with plant personnel, delivering high levels of service and communication to stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
You bring these skills, experience & education
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, including proven leadership of teams and EHS program ownership.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations; ISO45001 and OSHA VPP preferred.
- Demonstrated success in driving process improvements, incident investigations, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS data management tools.
