As a Senior Expert Service Automation (m/f/d), you will play a key role in ensuring the reliable, efficient and safe operation of our SIG filling lines. Acting as an important technical interface between our customers and SIG, you will use your expertise in industrial automation, electrical systems and machine software to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues directly at customer sites.This is a highly hands-on and customer-focused role, combining advanced technical expertise with autonomy, problem-solving and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.

 
Key responsibilities
 
  • Analyze and resolve complex issues related to automation, instrumentation and industrial electronics.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot control systems based on Siemens S7 (Step 7), Schneider PLCs and Zenon SCADA systems.
  • Perform on-site commissioning and validation of software modifications.
  • Integrate and commission peripheral equipment, sensors, actuators and industrial communication systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot control systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servo motors and instrumentation.
  • Work closely with production, maintenance and quality teams to ensure the availability, reliability and optimal performance of SIG equipment.
  • Prepare, maintain and update technical documentation, electrical schematics and software backups.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, digitalization and industrial automation projects.
  • Analyze recurring technical issues and implement sustainable solutions to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for customers and collaborate closely with internal Service and Engineering teams.
 
You bring these skills, experience & education
 
  • Degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electronics or a related field; relevant vocational qualifications also considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, ideally in Field Service or Technical Service.
  • Strong experience with Siemens S7 PLCs, Schneider PLCs and Zenon SCADA.
  • Knowledge of HMI systems, Profibus, Industrial Ethernet, VFDs, servo motors and industrial instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic schematics.
  • Experience programming and maintaining industrial machinery software.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-driven, structured and customer-focused, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Fluent in the local language and good English skills.
  • Willingness to travel more than 75%, including internationally.
  • Experience with aseptic filling, packaging or filling lines.
  • Experience in the food & beverage industry.
  • Knowledge of SCADA and process traceability.
  • Experience with SIG equipment or similra is a plus
  • Strong technical English skills.
