Supply Chain Generalist

 

SUMMARY OF ROLE:


The Supply Chain Generalist will expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to the production schedule. Determine progress of work and completion dates; and compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.  Analyze the movement, storage, or processing of inventory.  Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs. The Supply Chain Manager will fulfill the responsibilities of this role when vacant.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibilities include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors.
  • Ensure raw materials and finished products are supplied to internal and external customers on a timely basis.
  • Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders, or staffing tables, to determine personnel or materials requirements or material priorities.
  • Confer with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Examine documents, materials, or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Confer with establishment personnel, vendors, or customers to coordinate production or shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
  • Requisition and maintain inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands.
  • Support activities to achieve all KPI’s and metrics associated with all warehouse activities (i.e., ordering, receiving, inventorying, shipping materials, etc.).
  • Confer with supply chain planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products.
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
  • Participate in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow.
  • Responsible for creating the production schedule while considering finished goods inventory, WIP, forecasted demand, customer orders, inner-company demand, replenishment orders, plant capacity, cycling plans, manufacturing efficiencies and various other dependencies.

 

 

YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience using MRP
  • Related experience and/or training a plus
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to ERP systems
  • Customer Orientation
  • Good Communication skills
  • Results Focused
