PROCESS CONTROLS SPECIALIST

SUMMARY OF ROLE:
The Process Controls Specialist performs assignments across the entire range of plant equipment, i.e. Injection Molding, Assembly, Extrusion, and Bag Making.  Check operation of equipment to meet plant or department requirements.  Diagnose and determine root causes of problems, make corrections, repair or replace units as necessary.  Discuss findings and/or results with department personnel, develop solutions to problems and provide a basis on which corrections are made.  Make recommendations concerning changes to equipment, improvements or installations and upkeep based on findings.  Assist other process technicians, engineering, and sales as necessary.  The Technical Manager fulfills the responsibilities of this role when vacant.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Ensure a quality product is produced to meet or exceed customer expectations.
•    Support all departments in the specification and integration of electrical/electronic controls as part of the continuous improvement process ensuring safe operation of equipment is not compromised and all NEC and NEMA codes are adhered to.
•    Support maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and training for electrical/electronic controls developing a close working relationship with maintenance personnel to strengthen controls troubleshooting techniques and increased knowledge of electrical controls applications.
•    Provide electrical controls expertise in support of the day to day manufacturing operation.
•    Perform PLC and HMI programming in support of all departments.  
•    Install electrical controls devices/components in support of reliability and continuous improvement projects.  
•    Develop accurate electrical schematics for all controls projects.
•    Provide direction to OEMs regarding electrical controls specification of new equipment, electrical standardization requirements, HMI format, data acquisitioning requirements and electrical documentation requirements.
•    Support engineering and maintenance on corrective action for improvement projects as assigned.
•    Design, integrate, and support data acquisition system used for real time plant performance tracking on existing and new equipment.
•    Responsible for overseeing food safety.
•    Perform other duties as assigned.


YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
•    EDUCATION: 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 year AS technical degree or equivalent.
  • Journeyman electrician preferred.

 

•    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  •  Five (5) to Ten (10) years’ experience in manufacturing environment a must.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products is desired.
  • Proficiency preferred in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project Management.
  • Background in training, programming and experience in Allen Bradley PLC, Siemens PLC, HMI AC/DC and Servo drive configurations as needed.
  • Knowledge and experience in Six Sigma and Lean is also desirable.

  • Visual Acuity (VA).
