Automation Engineer
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance to ensure the availability of production machines and equipment, conducting failure analysis and closing out actions to eradicate the root cause of technical failures in order to minimize unplanned downtime and extend equipment life. Act as a support to maintenance coordination, generate and issue reports, and train the rest of the maintenance team.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on process machines (Printing, Creaser and Cutter, Folder Sealing Finishing), taking care of the organization's resources.
- Train newly hired electricians on preventive and corrective routines for process equipment.
- Propose and implement improvements to process machinery and equipment to reduce waste, eliminate breakdowns, or improve equipment efficiency.
- Program PLCs, HMIs, and variable speed drives in Siemens programming language (TIA Portal).
- Update and back up the PLC programs of assigned equipment.
- Supervise third-party providers carrying out maintenance activities in the assigned area.
- Improve and/or create preventive maintenance plans for the assigned area.
- Cover shifts to resolve breakdowns and/or issues in production processes.
- Generate work orders for each activity performed in the process and close them out in SAP.
- Perform failure analysis for breakdowns lasting more than 2 hours or that have recurred more than twice.
- Manage equipment technical data and documentation.
- Support production with process machine adjustments.
- Act proactively and sustainably regarding environmental matters, working to minimize the environmental impacts of the activity while complying with the environmental policy and SIG Combibloc standards.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure the production of safe packaging for customers and consumers.
- Comply with the company's safety standards and policies to avoid incidents/accidents and look out for coworkers.
- Attend scheduled training sessions to fulfill personal development plans.
Requirements
- Electronics, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering degree
- English (Advanced)
- 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance/automation
- Siemens PLC programming in TIA Portal (required)
- Pneumatics (Intermediate)
- Motor and servo motor control (Intermediate)
- Electricity (Advanced)
- TPM / Preventive Maintenance (Basic)
- SAP (Basic)
